Website Design

What is web design?

A page of text with a few pictures, anybody can design a page with any number of web page editors or word processor programs to-day. The average website on the internet varies between the two extremes, either plain junk or extremely high tech.

The most effective and most visited sites are right in the middle, visually appealing, with enough information to invoke response from the person "viewing" the page. This is achieved in a number of ways:

Keep information simple and easy to understand. If your product or service is very technical, remember, if the prospect looking at your page can understand the terminology you have, you stand a good chance of invoking response.ie target your audience.

Introduce yourself, your company and your product or service.

Don't try and sell your product, rather inform by stating the benefits and advantages of your product or service, both short and long term. Request or invite response.

Offer examples and/or, free download demonstrations, ie give something away

Make it easy to be contacted, don't expect someone to suddenly disconnect from the Internet to phone you.

Offer a response form, e-mail address, Internet telephone number and even a 1-800 number. The internet has no boundaries and there is tremendous competition with many pages offering the same advantages as yours.

Ensure your page is not overloaded with graphics, as few internet users will wait. Rather spread the content over more smaller and quicker loading pages.

When you print your page, ensure that all the information fits on a page, and not on 5 pages when the prospect is only expecting one.
